Alleged Robbery Group Leader Killed In Sipalay City, Negros Occidental

SIPALAY CITY – An alleged leader of a robbery group was killed by cops in a shootout in Barangay San Jose, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental.

The said suspect was said to have a string of criminal cases in court, according to a report from Panay News.

The suspect, identified as Eddie Epogon, aged 25, of Barangay San Jose in the city, died of multiple gunshot wounds on the head and chest on Saturday, February 20.

Epogon had pending arrest warrants for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, illegal possession of explosives and robbery with murder that was issued by Judge Edwin Gomez of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 77 in the city and Judge Sue Lynn Lowie-Jolingan of the RTC Branch 53.

Chavez fought back and endangered the lives of law enforcers, according to local police chief Police Major James Latayon Jr.

Epogon was a member of the “Epogon robbery group” responsible for a series of robbery and holdup incidents in the city and Cauayan, Negros Occidental in the recent years.

The suspect was a relative of the Epogons who were arrested in Silay City in the year 2020. Latayon said that the group is still active and reported to be engaged in illegal drugs, based on the report.
