Janine Gutierrez speaks about being vocal on social issues
Kapamilya actress Janine Gutierrez reacted to the comment that she is an “activist” because of being vocal about her views on social issues.
For several times, through her social media posts, Janine has shown her strong conviction on things that she believes. In a recent interview by Philstar’s Ricky Lo, the actress was asked about the “activist” tag against her.
“Ha? Normal na mamamayan naman lang po ako. Isn’t it normal for an ordinary citizen to comment on issues affecting us? Natural lang naman ‘yon, di ba?” Janine Gutierrez answered.
When reminded that she is a public and that her words and actions can be misinterpreted, the actress said that it does not stop her from being “involved as an ordinary citizen.”
She added that she was trained this way at school as they were made to make a news report every say.
“As a Foreign Affairs student we had to be up-to-date with what was happening around the world; we had to be politically aware. So hindi ko na binitiwan ang habit ko na ‘yon. I always keep up with what’s happening by reading the papers and watching the newscast,” she explained.
She added that her mom Lotlot de Leon used to advise her to be less vocal. However, Janine said that now, she has influenced her mother speak up. “But guess what…now she is also very vocal. Nahawa sa akin, hahaha!!!” she shared.
Janine Gutierrez also shared that she wants to be an ambassador someday that was why she took up European Studies.
