Smuggled Cigarettes from China Worth P50 Millions Was Seized by Customs
The Bureau of Customs (BOC) operatives have seized the P50 million worth of fake cigarettes smuggled from the China in Cagayan de Oro Port, Friday.
Bureau of Customs (BOC) – Cagayan de Oro Port personnel seized two containers containing smuggled cigarettes valued at P50 million from China. The BOC informed that the said shipment was consigned to LMRC 418 Direct Import Export Corp.
The smuggled cigarettes arrived on February 14, 2021, at the Mindanao Container Terminal (MCT) in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental. The information regarding the said contraband immediately extends to Cagayan de Oro Port District Collector John Simon.

After receiving information, Simon issued a Pre-Lodgement Control Order issued the said cargo based on the recommendation made by the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS) of the BOC.
During the inspection, the said cargo was declared to contain various types of household appliances. However, the cargo was filled with smuggled cigarettes with the labels “Marvels” and “Two Moon.”
As a result, the Warrant of Seizure and Detention issued the said freight which will be set to destroy them so that they can no longer be consumed and spread in the market.
