Delivery Driver Smuggling Illegal Drug Plant Hidden in Vegetables Arrested
A 21-year-old delivery driver arrested after he attempts to transport illegal drug plant “Maryjane” hidden on the vegetable products.
During the buy-bust operation by authorities of Nueva Ecija, a young delivery driver was arrested Thursday (Feb. 11) in Brgy. Tayabo of this city and seized 55 kilos of alleged “Maryjane” bricks amounting to P6.6 million.
In a joint operation of Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group (PNP-DEG), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), and Nueva Ecija police led by Col. Jaime Santos, they inspect the alleged bricks of illegal drug plant seized.

According to Santos, the suspect was identified as Erwin Mariano, 21, resident of Bontoc, Mt. Province. He was with his two other comrades identified as alias “Jason” and Sammy Damaso who are now being pursued by authorities.
Based on the article of Manila Bulletin, one of the anti-narcotic operatives pretended as buyer who will purchase the bricks of the drug plant during the buy-bust operation. Amid the transaction, the young suspect was immediately arrested.
Further investigation revealed that the suspects were conducting drug trafficking which was secretly delivered as vegetable products in NCR, Regions 2 and 3, and in the Cordilleras.
A .22 caliber revolver and six rounds of ammunition, 40 rounds of .9mm ammunition, a radio transceiver, various author cards, and a truck used to deliver illegal drugs were also confiscated from the suspect.
