DOTr Confirms Death of MRT-3 General Manager Rodolfo Garcia After Contracting COVID-19

MRT-3 General Manager Rodolfo Garcia died after contracting COVID-19 and being under critical condition last week.

The Philippines is one of the countries that is still currently fighting against the COVID-19 pandemic. Every day, there are still fresh cases thus the government continues to remind the people to be extra careful.

The entire country is still under community quarantine measures now. The wearing of a face mask and the practice of social distancing have become protocols when going outdoors.

The pandemic has really brought a lot of changes in the country including the education system. Currently, face-to-face classes have yet to be allowed due to the ongoing fight against the pandemic and the detection of a new variant of the disease.

Even the public transportation was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. There are now reduced capacities in public transport to give way for social distancing inside jeepneys, buses, shipping vessels, etc.

Undeniably, a lot of people working and usually exposed to the public have contracted COVID-19. Metro Manila Transit Rail 3 or MRT-3 General Manager Rodolfo Garcia is one of those who contracted COVID-19.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, in the last week of January, MRT-3 General Manager Rodolfo Garcia was in a critical condition due to COVID-19. Recently, the Department of Tourism (DOTr) confirmed that he died.

The DOTr expressed its condolences to the bereaved family of Garcia. He died on Wednesday night.
