Filipino Netizens Got Offended to Chinese Drama After Using “Filipino Maid” as Insult

The Filipino netizens criticized the Chinese drama entitled “Make my heart smile” for using “Filipino maid” dialogue as insult.

A lot of Filipino people expressed their disappointment towards the Chinese drama entitled “Make my heart smile” over a line of the male character. The actor used the “Filipino maid” as an insult in his dialogue.

The actor criticized his leading lady trying to fit different clothes for his approval. Unfortunately, the leading man commented “You look like a Filipino maid” to the actress for not his meeting his approval.

A Twitter user named “athea!?” considered the dialogue as an insult to the Filipino people. The netizens expressed their sentiments towards the alleged slur and discrimination of overseas Filipino workers working as domestic helpers.

“as a filo, this is very offensive and disrespectful,” Athea wrote on her post. The Filipinos are seeking a public apology from the Chinese drama’s production staff regarding the distasteful remarks.

“If this is a misinterpretation or what…this is still wrong. They knew that this will be filmed and be released and they knew that many Filipinos may see and watch this…so they need to make more precautionary measures! This is so offensive!,” a netizen said.
