Foreigners In PH May Get Deported, BI Gives Until March 1 To Report

Foreigners In PH May Get Deported If They Fail To Comply With BI Requirements

FOREIGNERS IN PH MAY GET DEPORTED – According to the Bureau of Immigration (BI), foreigners in the Philippines may face sanctions or deportation if they fail to appear in agency offices for their annual report.

Commissioner Jaime Morente announced Wednesday that failure to do so before March 1, may incur the following penalties: “fines, visa cancellation, deportation, or imprisonment“.

Foreigners may opt to go to the BI main office in Intramuros, Manila, and the closest participating BI field office, satellite, or extension office. Meanwhile, BI alien registration outside the country during the 60 day period can still make an appearance within 30 days upon their return to the Philippines.

Currently, the BI has tallied a total of 77,303 aliens who filed their reports by the end of January 2021. This was 10% less than the 86,683 that compiled in 2020.

He said 19,166 of the aliens reported at the main office in Manila. Meanwhile, the remaining 58,137 filed their report in other immigration sub-ports across the Philippines.

The Alien Registration Act of 1950 needs all aliens with immigrant and non-immigrant visas to comply to a personal report to the bureau within the first 60 days of every calendar year.
