Here’s what Harry Roque said about his political future
In 2019, the former lawmaker filed his certificate of candidacy for the senatorial position. Because of that, he resigned as the spokesman of President Rodrigo Duterte a year before the previous elections.
However, due to the heart procedure that he went through, he had to back out from that journey in his political career.
Last April 2020, Harry Roque returned as the Presidential Spokesperson. In a recent press briefing, he was asked if he will once again run for Senator in the next elections, based on the report in Manila Bulletin.
“Sabi ko nga para maging epektibo ako bilang tagapagsalita, kinakailangan eh isantabi muna iyang mga planong iyan ‘no at sabihin kung anong kinakailangan sabihin sa taumbayan,” the spokesperson said.
He added that when he will pursue running for Senator, his actions and statements will be limited.
“Ngayon po I think I’ve been liberated, bereft of political plans, I can say what I say and in a manner that I think should be done. So hindi po nagbabago ang ating paninindigan,” the Secretary added.
Meanwhile, once again Harry Roque became a trending topic on social media because of his recent statement about not being choosy when it comes to the COVID-19 vaccine.
His exchange of words with comedian-host Vice Ganda regarding this issue became a hot topic online. This is aside from the viral hair flip that CNN Philippines journalist Pinky Webb when she interviewed the Presidential Spokesperson.
