Tuguegarao City Mayor Jefferson Soriano Places Town Under 10-Day ECQ

Tuguegarao City Mayor Jefferson Soriano placed the town under 10-day enhanced community quarantine due to the rising COVID-19 cases.

On Wednesday (January 20, 2021), Tuguegarao City has been placed under enhanced community quarantine due to the increasing cases of the coronavirus cases. The ECQ will last until January 29, 2021.

Soriano said that the ECQ will last for 10 days but it might extended. The Department of Health and other government agencies have also vowed to support the new measure in the area. he also said that travel and restaurants are allowed.

“Dito sa Tuguegarao, 10 days we’ll be able to manage it, nagpromise naman ng support ang DOH (Department of Health) at iba pang national agencies. Kaya na po namin ito,” Soriano said.

The mayor said that Tuguagarao City has 235 active infections. However, the town could only conduct contact tracing up to first generation due to lack of manpower after the Department of the Interior and Local Government pulled out 100 personnel.

The town mayor explained that the COVID-19 cases increased due to workplace transmission. COVID-19 cases have been recorded in detention centers and even some cops infected.

“Hanggang primary, first generation lang po kami as of now ‘pag madalian po pero sinusunod po namin ang second generation ‘pag kaunti lang po ang infected ng COVID,” the mayor said.
