Iloilo Province Seized P20 Million Worth Of Illegal Drugs Throughout 2020
ILOILO PROVINCE – From January to December 2020, police operatives from Iloilo province have seized at about P20 million worth of drugs.
Furthermore, a total of 149 buy-bust operations were carried out throughout the entire year, according to a report from Panay News.
Records from the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) show that the seized drugs were 614.2 percent higher than those confiscated in the year 2019. 197 suspects were also arrested.
The top performing town police stations with the highest number of arrested persons were the following:
- Pavia – P12 million worth of illegal drugs seized and 54 drug suspects arrested
- Estancia – P13 million worth of illegal drugs seized and 16 drug suspects arrested
- Santa Barbara – P3.7 million worth of illegal drugs seized and 15 drug suspects arrested
IPPO director Police Colonel Gilbert Gorero said that most of the suspects who were arrested were operating individually.
“They are in a hurry to dispose the prohibited substance that’s why our men seized huge volumes of illegal drugs,”
Based on the report, Gorero commended civilian agents and the public for providing vital information that resulted in succesful sting operations.
“Our war against illegal drugs continues. We will not allow drug peddlers to put to waste the milestones in our efforts to make Iloilo province drug-free,”
