Barangay Councilor Shot To Death In Amulung Town, Cagayan

AMULUNG TOWN – A barangay councilor was recently shot to death by assailants wearing face masks in Amulung Town, Cagayan.

The victim was identified by Police Regional Office 2 (PRO-2) Information Officer Lt. Col. Andree Abella as Ferdinand Javier, aged 46, councilor of Barangay Babayuan, according to a report from Manila Bulletin.

The Amulung Piloce said that Barangay Babayuan Chairperson Dennis S. Mallilin contacted them at 4:30 PM on Wednesday to report the shooting incident.

They added that Javier was in front of his residence and was about to meet some strangers in face masks. The strangers were looking for him, and eventually shot him as he was walking towards them.

The suspect fled onboard a black pick-up truck, which has no license plate.

Based on the report, the police said that they are currently conducting further investigation to determine the motive of the crime, as well as identifying the weapon used in the killing.

A barangay kagawad was shot to death earlier this week by a riding-in-tandem in Naval town, Biliran province.

The kagawad was shot at the back of his head, which resulted to his eventual death.
