Iloilo City Mayor Warned Hotel Operators Holding Parties and Serving Liquors
Jerry Treñas, Mayor of Iloilo City, warned hotel operators in the city against allowing parties and serving alcoholic beverages inside.
City Mayor said that he will not hesitate to close any hotel or inn that allows private parties that involve illegal drugs and alcoholic beverages. “I will not hesitate to close any hotel, inn, or the like that allows private parties where drinking and illegal drugs are present,” Treñas warned.
According to the report of Manila Bulletin, Treñas announced the warning after the controversial death of Philippine Airlines flight attendant Christine Dacera. Dacera died in a hotel room in Makati City.
The hotel is under probe and possibly face charges for the blatant disregard of minimum health protocols, which is social gatherings. Treñas added that he imposes a one-strike policy.

After the city has been placed under the general community quarantine status (GCQ), the national government placed Iloilo City under the revised general community quarantine (MGCQ) – an eased community quarantine.
Although the city is under the MGCQ, Treñas has not yet revoked his executive order prohibiting the selling, serving, and drinking of intoxicating beverages in public places such as restaurants and hotels.
Iloilo Mayor also named restaurants publicly for allegedly violating health protocols such as physical distancing policies and allowable operating capacity of only 50 percent.
