Malacañang Palace Reveals No Government Funds Used to Vaccinate PSG Members

Malacañang Palace said that no government funds have been used to vaccinate the PSG members against the coronavirus disease.

On Tuesday (December 29, 2020), Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said that the government did not use funds for the COVID-19 vaccination of members of the Presidential Security Group (PSG).

Roque also explained that the prioritization for COVID-19 vaccination was not violated and it aims to ensure the safety of the Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte from the threat of the coronavirus disease.

The Presidential spokesperson clarified that the government will still prioritize the less-fortunate, elderlies, and frontliners. He also revealed that the vaccines for PSG workers came from donations.

“Dahil hindi naman po ito ginastusan galing sa kaban ng taumbayan, wala pong paglabag dito sa prayoridad na pinaninindigan natin hanggang ngayon, It was not paid for so it is a donation, but that’s all that I know,” Roque said.

However, the politician revealed that he had no idea how the vaccines got into the Philippines. He also said that he supports the decision of PSG. The Bureau of Customs said that the involved individuals could face charges if proven smuggled.

“Huwag na nating masamain ‘yan dahil ‘yan naman po ay magreresulta sa mabuting kalusugan ng ating Presidente. Let’s close that issue at that,” Roque added.
