Philippine Government Set To Issue Guidelines on Mandatory Wearing Face Shield

The Philippine government is set to issue guidelines on proper wearing of face shields in public places along with face masks.

Nowadays, the Philippine government is implementing stricter rules and regulations to prevent COVID-19 transmission. The health authorities are urging the public to wear personal protective equipment such as face masks and face shields to avoid possible contract to the virus.

The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) has order DOH, DOLE, and other government agencies to release guidelines of proper use of face shields in public places.

The mandatory wearing of face shields outside houses has been announced with the aim to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus disease.  The face shield requirement also aims to prevent the increase of infection during the Christmas holidays.

The IATF’s recent resolution includes the exclusions or exemptions in wearing face shields, which has been previously required when entering commercial buildings and public utility vehicles.

IATF has also instructed the National Golf Association of the Philippines to halt the reopening of golfer’s locker room. The agency allowed golf and other noncontact sports in GCQ areas but safety protocols must be strictly observed.
