PAGASA Raises Signal No.1 in 7 Areas Due to Tropical Depression Vicky

TCWS Signal No.1 Raised in 7 Areas as Tropical Depression Vicky Moves Towards Cagayancillo, PAGASA Says

The state weather agency PAGASA raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 in seven as Tropical Depression Vicky moves towards Cagayancillo.

At 8:00 am on Saturday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration raised signal no. 1 over some parts of the Philippines due to the effects of Tropical Depression Vicky.

Vicky has been last located at 240 km west of Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte. The tropical cyclone has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 55 kph moving 25 kph at a west-northwestward direction.

Vicky is expected to develop into a tropical storm over the West Philippine Sea as it is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Sunday evening (December 20, 2020).

Meanwhile, PAGASA raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 in the following areas.

  • Northern and central portions of Palawan including Calamian, Cuyo, Cagayancillo, and Kalayaan Islands
  • Negros Oriental
  • Central and southern portions of Negros Occidental
  • Guimaras
  • Southern portion of Iloilo 
  • Southern portion of Antique
  • Central portion of Zamboanga del Norte and western portion of Zamboanga Sibugay

PAGASA warned the residents living in areas under TCWS No. 1 would experience strong breeze to near. Possible flashfloods and landslides are also expected during heavy and prolonged rainfall.
