Duterte Approves Dry Run of Face-to-Face Classes in January 2021

Pres. Duterte OKs to DepEd’s Proposal over Face-to-Face Classes Dry Run

DUTERTE – Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte approved the dry of the face-to-face classes in January 2021.

One of the things affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in the Philippines is the way classes are held in schools. Instead of having it face-to-face which is implemented in most schools, blended learning had to be adapted.

Under blended learning, students get education through modules and online classes. These are the alternatives so students need not to come to school and be exposed to a lot of people amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Even the start of the school year was affected. Instead of the opening of classes in June, it was moved further to October 5, 2020.

Currently, most students are having their Christmas break. Many are curious as to whether the face-to-face classes will be back in January or not.

Recently, an update crossed the surface. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte approved the proposal of the Department of Education (DepEd) to hold a dry-run of the face-to-face classes in January 2021.

According to the report, the dry run will be implemented for the whole month of January in selected schools only. These educational institutions that will be selected for the dry run must be in low risk areas.

President spokesman Harry Roque who announced the approval from Pres. Duterte said that DepEd will coordinate with the National Inter-Agency Task Force against COVID-19 regarding the matter.

Furthermore, it will not be compulsory but voluntary on the part of the students and the parents. A parent’s permit is needed.
