The Philippines has one of the longest celebrations of the Christmas season and there are really “traditions” that people include every year. Many Filipinos attend the simbang gabi, prepare for the noche buena for Christmas, and prepare firecrackers and fireworks for the New Year.

As early as September, Christmas songs are already played in public places like shopping malls. The people also start to plan out for gifts to buy for their loved ones and the food to prepare.

With regards to the New Year celebration which is highlighted by firecrackers and fireworks, in 2019, limitations on its use were issued. Even the Department of Health (DOH) campaigned to avoid its use.
