PNP Releases List of Prohibited Firecrackers, Penalties

PROHIBITED FIRECRACKERS – The Philippine National Police (PNP) released the list of prohibited firecrackers and the penalties set for violators.

The New Year celebration is fast-approaching as the 2018 is about to end. Now, it is only three(3) days before New Year which is one of the most-awaited holidays by people around the world.

One of the traditional way of celebrating the New Year in the Philippines is through fireworks and firecrackers. Lots of Filipinos feel incomplete without it as part of the celebration.

Even prior to 12 midnight of January 1, you can already hear firecrackers in the streets. Several fireworks are also held in subdivisions and public places.

However, undeniably, fireworks and firecrackers may post danger to the people. There were several cases wherein people lost parts of their bodies due to firecrackers.

For the safety of everyone, the PNP set limit on the use of firecrackers in welcoming the New Year 2019.

Recently, on its official Facebook page, PNP posted a poster containing the list of prohibited firecrackers and the penalties for the violators.

Based on the social media post, aside from the aforementioned prohibited firecrackers, other firecrackers with no label and imported ones are also not allowed.

The penalties that await the violators – the manufacturers, sellers, distributors, and users of the aforementioned firecrackers include the following:

  • A fine of Php 20,000.00 – Php 30,000.00
  • Six months to one year imprisonment
  • License and business permit cancellation
  • Inventory of stock cancellation
