Caraga Farmers Undergo Financial Management and Agricultural Training Amid COVID-19 Pandemic

48 Caraga farmers have joined a financial management and agricultural entrepreneurship training amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Department of Agriculture’s Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program conduct a two-day online training for over 48 farmers in Caraga region. The training has been held last December 3 to 4, 2020.

DA-Caraga Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division training resource speaker Rey U. Frias discussed entrepreneurial mindset and financial literacy. The program aims to help the farmers with those useful lessons.

Frias also said that farmers are playing lead role in the Philippines’ agricultural sector. They just need to enhance their fundamental skills such as financial management and entrepreneurship to improve.

Many Filipino people does not have basic financial concepts, which is very important to avoid making wrong or poor decisions when it comes to financial management. The program also aims to help farmers become established agri-preneurs by 2022.

“By empowering the local farmers, we shall see a progressive Caraga region,” DA-Caraga Regional Executive Director (RED) Abel James I. Monteagudo said.
