Daughter Of Killed Anakpawis Chair Arrested For Alleged Gun Possession
ANAKPAWIS CHAIR – The daughter of the slain Anakpawis chairperson Randall Echanis was arrested for illegal possession of guns and explosives.
The arrested has been identified as Amanda Socorro Echanis, alias Waya and Julian, according to a report from Inquirer.
Echanis was nabbed for alleged illegal possession of firearms and explosives at Barangay Carupian in the municipality of Baggao in Cagayan around 3:30 AM Wednesday. This came from a statement made by Brig. Gen. Crizaldo Nieves, chief of the Cagayan Valley Police Regional Office.
Retrieved from the suspect include an M-16 assault rifle, a magazine, two hand grenades, and ammunition. Echanis was with her baby, 1 year of age, when the cops arrested her.
She was also accused of being the finance officer of West Front-Komiteng Probinsya ng Cagayan (KOMPROB) of Cagayan Valley Regional Party Committee of New People’s Army, who are operating in the region.
Her house was searched by the police on the strength of a warrant issued by Judge Sheila Gacutan-Labuguen of Baggao Municipal Trial Court.
The suspect’s alleged cohort, identified as Isabela Adviento, who has aliases Buting, Buth, YC, Bom, Resty, Belen, and Jorly, remained at large, based on the report.
Seized from a safe house in Barangay Carupian owned by Adviento include a 9mm Uzi submachine gun with five bullets, 60 bullets for an M-14 rifle, a hand grenade, 20 bullets for an M-26 rifle, two hand grenades, and an improvised explosive device.
