According to a report from ABC News, among the women the suspect blackmailed included minors.

The Seoul Central District Court convicted the operator, identified as Cho Ju-Bin, aged 24, of violating laws on protecting minors and organizing a criminal ring, says court spokesman Kim Yong Chan.

Kim added that the court ruled the suspect used several ways to lure and blackmail a huge number of victims into making inappropriate contents and distribute them to many people for an extended period.

“He particularly disclosed the identities of many victims and inflicted irreparable damage to them.”

Cho claimed that he only cheated the victims into making such content but denies blackmailing or coercing them. This urged some victims to testify in court.

Kim added that the court decided to isolate the suspect from society for a prolonged period of time in consideration of his attitude and the seriousness of his crime.

Both the suspect and prosecutors who had requested a life sentence, have one week to appeal.

Based on the report, the prosecutors have formally arrested or indicted the operator, as well as seven accomplices in June for victimizing 74 victims, among the include 16 minors, and disribute them on the Telegram messaging app.

The former called the suspect’s group “a criminal ring” of 38 members. The court sentences five of his cohorts up to 15 years in prison.
