Police Authorities Arrest Wiper Boys in Ermita, Manila Over Illegal Activity

A group of wiper boys along Roxas Boulevard in Ermita, Manila have been arrested after motorists complained their illegal activity along the road.

The Facebook page “Philippines CCTV & DASH CAM Spotted” has shared the photos of several wiper boys who were arrested because of their illegal activity. The post garnered various reactions from the online community.

MPD Station 5 arrested the group of young kids aging 8-17 years old hailed as ‘wiper boys’. The kids usually offering to clean the windshield of the motorists passing along Roxas Boulevard in exchange of money.

The motorists complained that the wiper gang were quick to splash water and soap into the vehicle’s windshield without asking permission from the drivers. After cleaning the windshield, the kids would ask for money.

The teenagers were scratching the vehicles whenever the drivers refused to give them money. The kids are causing inconvenience along the road and also putting their life in danger because of their activity.

The wiper boys have been brought to Alvarez Covered Court in Sta. Cruz, Manila, which is under the management of Manila Social Welfare and Development Office. MPD’s action is based on Manila Mayor Isko Moreno’s order.

“Hindi na natin kailangan hintayin ang viral na hinaing ng tao, dapat aksyunan ang anumang sumbong o idinudulog ng ating mga kababayan, Mas magandang marinig natin o makita sa social media na ramdam ng mamamayan ang presenya at serbisyo ng ating kapulisan”‘ NCRPO RD PBgen Vicente Danao Jr said.
