CHSM – College of the Holy Spirit of Manila to Cease in Operations in 2022

The College of the Holy Spirit of Manila (CHSM) announced the closure of the institution citing enrollment difficulties.

On Sunday (November 22, 2020), the management of CHSM announced the closure of the education institution after the academic year 2021-2022 on their Facebook page. The institution did not mention the main reason for the closure.

However, the 107-year-old school said on its statement last October 28 that they are experiencing difficulty to attract new students over the past decade, which has been worsened by the coronavirus pandemic.

The school management said that they would allow the current Grade 11 and 3rd Year College students before ceasing their operations in 2022. Mission Congregation of the Servants of the Holy Spirit owned schools are not affected by the CHSM closure.

CHSM has been founded in 1913 and it was formerly known as Holy Ghost College, which is operating for 107 years.

The coronavirus pandemic has widely spread in different regions all around the world including the Philippines. The health crisis prompted the some schools in the country to close. Around 865 private schools would cease their operations for school year 2020-2021, according to DepEd.
