Shortly after Typhoon Rolly, another typhoon came to the country called Ulysses which soaked many areas in Luzon. And during the Typhoon Ullysses onslaught, where is the president? Accordingly, he virtually attended the 37th ASEAN Summit which kicked off today and where he also spoke. However, he excused himself amid the event to face the calamity that affected many of his people. The one who stayed to represent the country is Foreign Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr.

Now, in his 6-minute speech, Duterte assured that the “government is on top of the situation” and he guaranteed to give the affected people their best in terms of providing assistance “in form of shelters, relief goods, financial aid, and post-disaster counseling”. Accordingly, no one will be left behind.

Moreover, he also ordered the deployment of police, military, and Philippine Coast Guard to rescue people who got stuck and stranded due to huge flooding. And regarding the trending hashtag, this is his reply which he said at the later part of his speech:

May mga nagsasabi na walang ginagawa, natutulog. Wala kaming tulog dito.”

Given the chance and if he only had his will to follow, he will swim the waters to help the people but accordingly, his guards won’t let him and strictly wanted to secure his safety by staying inside the Palace.
