Helicopter Transferring Donor Heart Crashes, Medic Drops Heart
HELICOPTER TRANSFERRING DONOR HEART – A series of unfortunate events befell a medical team tasked to transfer a donor heart to a hospital.
Upon arriving at the hospital, the helicopter carrying the donor’s heart crashes on top of the hospital. Luckily nobody was severely injured and the heart was left undamaged. However, as the medical personnel went got the heart, he immediately dropped it after tripping on debris from the crash.
According to an article from CBS, the Agusta Westland A109 medical helicopter flipped onto its side atop the roof of Keck Hospital of USC in Los Angeles on Friday afternoon.

Fortunately, other members of the medical team quickly secured the heart, and after it was dropped. Furthermore, it looked like the organ was still okay and was ready to be transplanted into a patient.
Meanwhile, the doctor who slipped while carrying the organ was said to be uninjured due to the incident. The helicopter pilot was “self-extricated from the wreckage and he was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries“, according to the report.
