Rodrigo Duterte Congratulates President-elect Joe Biden on His Victory
DUTERTE – President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has issued a statement congratulating Joe Biden on his victory.
Several news sites and media outlets have projected victory for former Vice President Joe Biden. On Saturday, November 7, he was officially declared the winner of the 2020 presidential elections.
He previously gave a message of unity and promised to lead for his countrymen regardless of who they voted for. He said the COVID-19 pandemic will be his first priority.
Joe Biden’s running mate, Kamala Harris made history as US’ first black woman to serve as vice-president. Celebrities and foreign leaders were quick to congratulate Biden on Saturday. Among the stars who expressed their thoughts and feeling after the election include John Legend, Ariana Grande, Jennifer Lawrence, and Bella Hadid.

On Sunday, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte congratulated Joe Biden for his victory. The words were warm and welcoming for Biden.
“On behalf of the Filipino nation, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte wishes to extend his warm congratulations to former Vice President Joseph ‘Joe’ Biden on his election as the new President of the United States of America,” presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said.
The spokesperson noted that “the Philippines and the United States have long-standing bilateral relations and we are committed to further enhancing the relations with the United States under the Biden administration.”
“We look forward to working closely with the new administration of President-elect Biden anchored on mutual respect, mutual benefit, and shared commitment to democracy, freedom and the rule of law.”
“Congratulations and we wish him all the best,” he added.
