PAGASA – Latest Weather Updates This November 6, 2020

PAGASA – Here are the following latest updates from the state weather bureau PAGASA, on this day November 6, 2020 (Friday).

The Friday morning forecast from the state weather bureau says that Severe Tropical Storm Siony will more likely pass close or over Itbayat Island within the next two to three hours.

Based on a report from GMA News, Siony (internationally called Atsani) is expected to make landfall or approach close over Batanes as it continues to move west-northwestward and exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this Friday evening.

Siony is expected to turn southwestward tomorrow morning over the sea to the southwest of Taiwan and move over the West Philippine Sea towards the Paracel Islands area.

Siony is expected to maintain its strength or slightly intensify to 100 kilometers per hour within the next 24 hours. Within that time, it is expected to significantly weaken due to increasingly unfavorable conditions that is associated with a surge of the northeasterlies over the West Philippine Sea. It is expected to weaken into a low pressure area on Monday.

Severe Tropical Storm Siony was last spotted at about 60 kilometers east northeast of Basco, Batanes or 70 kilometers east of Itbayat, Batanes. It is packed with maximum sustained winds of about 95 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 115 kilometers per hour. It is moving westward at about 20 kilometers per hour.

    • the northern portion of Apayao

      • Calanasan
    • the northern portion of Ilocos Norte
      • Adams
      • Pagudpud
      • Bangui
      • Dumalneg
      • Burgos

Areas under TCWS No. 2 are currently facing damaging gale- to storm-force winds, while areas under TCWS No. 1 are currently facing strong breeze to near gale conditions.

According to the report, Siony wiill bring moderate to heavy rains over areas under TCWS No. 2 and moderate with ocassionally heavy rains over areas under TCWS No. 1.

The bureau warned that flooding and landslides may occur during heave or prolonged rainfall, especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards.

There will be a minimal to moderate risk of storm surge of 1.0 to 2.0 meters over the  coastal areas of Batanes and Babuyan Islands. in the next 24 hours.
