Lacson To Investigate “Red-Tagging” Of Military Officials

Lacson Files Resolution To Investigate Red-Tagging

LACSON TO INVESTIGATE RED-TAGGING – Recently, “red-tagging” or claiming a group or an individual is a member of the NPA, communist, or terrorist group has become rampant.

This issue was blown out of the water after Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Southern Luzon Command chief Lt. Gen. Antonio Parlade Jr. “warned” Kapamilya actress, Liza Soberano to cut ties with women’s rights group, Gabriella.

Along with this, Parlade even went as far as saying Manila Mayor Isko Moreno could be a terrorist “sympathizer” for removing a tarpaulin saying NPA and communists were Person Non-Grata in Manila.

Following all these issues and controversies, Senator Ping Lacson filed a resolution that aims to investigate the alleged red-tagging issues involving the military. According to an article from Inquirer, Lacson said:

I filed a resolution to look into all these issues involving the military and also those at the receiving end nung mga red-tagging na sinasabi,

Additionally, Lacson said that his camp would also invite Gabriela and other militant groups to talk about where the misunderstanding stemmed from.

We will also invite Gabriela and other militant groups para maliwanagan natin saan ba naguugat yung mag misunderstanding at saka yung conflict pagdating sa red-tagging, red-baiting, etcetera

As a response to the issues against him, Parlade said that he would not stop red-tagging. However, he emphasized that he would just shut-up and not be open about it unless there was sufficient evidence.
