RABIYA MATEO BIOGRAPHY – Here are some things you probably don’t know yet about Rabiya Mateo, the winner of the Miss Universe Philippines 2020 crown.
Miss Iloilo Rabiya Mateo won the most coveted Miss Universe Philippines title. Her beautiful face and elegant walk earned her the chance to represent the country to compete in the prestigious Miss Universe 2020 pageant.

Here are some things you need to know about Mateo. Her name means “princess” or “queen.” She stands 170 cm tall and hails from Balasan, Iloilo.
Rabiya Mateo graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Iloilo Doctors College. The 24-year-old beauty queen now works at SRG Manila Review Center as a lecturer and review coordinator.
She was crowned as Miss Iloilo Universe 2020 at the West Visayas State University Cultural Center. During the question and answer portion, she said, “If I were to be crowned tonight, it will be such an honor to bring to the global community our very own hablon which represents dedication, hard work and creative side of every Ilonggo. Aside from that, I want to show to the world that I am a queen today because of my province and with that being said, I want to prove to everyone that I am a true Ilongga with a heartfelt beauty.”
During the Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Top 16 Q&A, she answered the question “Throughout this journey you have discovered you are a phenomenal woman who is conditioned for greater. How can you create a positive and lasting impact to the world around you?”
Here’s her answer:
“First of all, I need to stick to my core, which is being passionate about educating people. I am a lecturer and I’ve been pursuing this because this education had helped me to have that comfortable life that I and my family deserves and I wanna push people, I want them to achieve greater things in life through me and I know that Miss Universe anything is possible because I am a phenomenal woman with a heart.”

When I heard about Rabiya Mateo winning the Miss Universe Philippines and finding that she was from Iloilo, I was so excited that an Ilonggo is going to represent the Philippines in The MISS UNIVERSE contest. I am here in Medinah, Illinois USA, for the last 41 years now and I have been following up all the Pilipino contestants in this event from PIA to Catriona and now Rabiya.
