Metro Manila Mayors Agree Not to Allow Christmas Party, Put Age Limit in Caroling

CHRISTMAS PARTY – Parties in public and private companies in Metro Manila for the Christmas celebration are not allowed and the caroling will have an age limit.

The Philippines is one of the countries with the longest celebration of the Christmas season. In fact, even before the -ber months begin, a lot of people are already very excited for the most-awaited time of the year.

Many individuals already plan out the gifts to give, the food to prepare, the games to play, and where or how to hold the parties to make it even more exciting and enjoyable. However, it seems that there would be a lot of changes this year.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, social gatherings are prohibited in areas under the General Community Quarantine (GCQ). The country is still on a fight against the spread of the disease and community quarantine measures are still up in the entire nation.

Based on a report in ABS-CBN News, Christmas party won’t be allowed in Metro Manila. The mayors of the different cities within the Metro have agreed not to allow parties as part of the fight against the disease and to put an age limit on carolings.

Speaking to Teleradyo, Metro Manila Council Chairman and Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez said that they will be releasing guidelines regarding the agreed rules to be implemented by each local government unit.

Based on the report, the mayors have agreed to put Metro Manila under GCQ until the end of 2020. Under this quarantine measure, gatherings which include Christmas party are now allowed. For the caroling, only those aged between 18 to 65 years old are allowed to join and each group must not exceed ten members.

Olivarez said that the mayors have agreed to ease a bit to give the economy a breather amid the COVID-19 crisis but the cities won’t be under Modified GCQ soon. Those who will be caught violating the rules will have to face consequences which may include the suspension of the employees who will be caught in parties.

With regards to the Christmas caroling, it must not exceed 12 midnight. The playing of loud Christmas songs in the household and barangay karaokes are also not allowed.
