La Niña To Peak During Christmas – PAGASA

LA NIÑA TO PEAK DURING CHRISTMAS – It looks like the Philippines is getting rainy days for the Christmas season.

Amid the coronavirus quarantine, the Philippines also faces a low pressure area (LPA), habagat, and Tropical Depression Nika. This trifecta would bring cloudy skies and rain to Metro Manila and the rest of the Philippines.

As such, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) told the public to expect more rainy days. According to Climate Monitoring Chief Analiza Solis, the Philippines would experience the La Niña Phenomenon at its peak between November and December.

During an interview with Teleradyo, Solis stated: “Based po sa recent conditions, nakikita po natin yung kasagsagan ng La Niña between November, December

Furthermore, the climate monitoring chief noted that the rainy seasons may continue until April, next year. Along with this, heavy rainfall that comes along with La niña would fill the country’s dams. Moreover, those located in Luzon such as the Angat dam would heavily be affected.

Kumbaga po favorable at mamaximize natin yung potential benefits ng La Niña. Kailangan lang po maiwasan natin yung mga adverse impacts nito na mga flooding and landslides, said Solis.
