PAGASA – LPA Enhances Into Tropical Depression Pepito This October 19, 2020

PAGASA – Here are the following latest updates from the state weather bureau PAGASA, on this day, October 19, 2020 (Monday).

The update from the latest weather bureau says that a low pressure area has developed into a tropical depression named Pepito before Monday dawn.

According to GMA News, the Low Pressure Area was last seen east of Virac, Catanduanes has intensified and became TD Pepito at 2 AM.

The trough or extension will affect Visayas, Mindanao, MIMAROPA and the Bicol Region. It will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over the said areas.

Meanwhile, light to moderate with at times heavy rains will be faced by Quezon, the Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Bangasamoro, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao Occidental, Sultan Kudarat, South Cotabato, and Sarangani.

The northeasterly surface windflow or NESWF will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley and Central Luzon.

The NESWF, which is partly enhanced by Pepito, will bring Strong- to gale-force winds with occasional gusts over Batanes, Babuyan Islands, and the coastal and mountainous areas of northern Ilocos Norte, Apayao, Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon, and Northern Samar.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

Based on the report, Pepito’s eye was located at 820 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes.

It is packed with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 55 kilometers per hour. It is moving northwestward at 20 kilometers per hour.

It is expected to make landfall over Northern Luzon or Central Luzon if it maintains its course. The weather is also more likely to be outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Friday morning.

A gale warning has also been raised over the seaboards of Batanes, Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur and Isabela. These areas will face rough to very rough seas due to the northeasterly surface windflow. Sea travel is risky over these areas.

The eastern seaboards of Central Luzon, Bicol region and the the seaboards of Northern and Eastern Samar will face moderate to rough coastal waters. Those with small seacraft there were urged to take the necessary precautions when going out to sea.
