NATIONAL ID SYSTEM – Here is an opinionated answer on whether or not it is beneficial for the Filipino populace.
The Republic Act No. 11055 or otherwise known as the Philippine Identification System Act was passed and approved in the country. It aims to create a national ID system for the Filipinos.
It is not only open for thee Filipino people but as well as for foreigners who are permanently residing in the Philippines. This new law was approved under the administration of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
This then-proposal was suggested in the previous administrations but was always blocked by concerns of privacy. There are those who are in favor of it while others do not support it.
As an opinionated statement, the national ID system is beneficial. It will be like a government record of all the members of the population and a unified proof of identity for each individual.

The holder can greatly benefit from eased private and public transactions using the document provided under the national ID system. You don’t need to provide multiple IDs in applying for a loan, a benefit from another government institution, making a big purchase, etc.
The ID can help you in easing a lot of transactions like the opening of bank accounts, application for schools, tax-related transactions, and verifying clearances among others.
The national ID system also aims to deter crimes in the country as records of each individual are logged for official purposes that do not by-pass the privacy of every person.
In the case of senior citizens, they don’t anymore need to apply for a senior citizen ID for discounts and privileges. The records under this new system will prove the age of the person.
