SSS Implements Changes on Schedule of Release of Pension

SSS – The Social Security System changed the schedule of the releasing of the pension.

One of the biggest social insurance institutions in the Philippines is the Social Security System. Most of its members are employees of the private sector or those working in private companies.

The said social insurance institution also accepts membership applications of individuals who are self-employed and as well as those who want to apply for voluntary memberships.

Members of the Social Security System pay for a monthly contribution. Accumulated contribution can make the member eligible for the offers of the institution like the benefits.

Undeniably, one of the Social Security System benefits that almost all members are looking forward to is the retirement benefit or pension. A member may receive an amount monthly from the institution in his or her retirement years.

Recently, the SSS implemented changes on the release of the pension of pensioners. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the social insurance institution changed the date of the releasing of the pension.

Social Security Spokesman Fernan Nicolas said that the institution assigned two dates for the releasing of the pension – every 1st day and 16th day of the month. Based on the report, it will be implemented by the different branch offices in uniformity.

For the pensioners whose birthday fall between the 1st and the 15th days of the month, the SSS will release their pension on the 1st day of the month. Those pensioners whose birthday fall between the 16th day and the 31st day of the month, the release of their pension will be every 16th day of the month. This new schedule will be implemented starting october.

Would just like to ask the effectivity date of change of pension out?

My birthdate is January 7, 1948. Based on your announcement, I am supposed to get my pension for October on the first day of October. But I haven’t received it. Since I have not received it, does it mean that I will get 2 pensions in November, one for October and another one for November on the fist day of November. please clarify this, because I am confused. It practically means that SSS will be late by half a month in giving the pension; SSS should compensate those affected by this arbritrary change. I am also confused from other announcements that the date of reckoning is the date of retirement. In your announcement here, it is the date of birth. I am writing not for me alone but also for the others in the same predicament.
