Vice Pres. Robredo Reacts To Pres. Duterte’s Speech in UN Meeting

ROBREDO – Vice President Leni Robredo is impressed of the speech of Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte to United Nations (UN).

The Philippines and China visibly have a good relationship but there is also a territorial dispute. Both countries are claiming ownership on the West Philippine Sea.

The claims on the disputed island has continued for several years now. It has already reached the international tribunal which gave its verdict on the matter.

The International Court sided with the Philippines on the PH-China dispute over the West Philippine Sea. However, the decision was not welcomed by the Chinese nation.

In the recent United Nations (UN) assembly, Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte asserted the arbitral award given to the Philippines in 2016. It gained positive remarks from the public but, as to the Palace, the President always bear the said stand.

One of those who were impressed by the message of Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte is Vice Pres. Leni Robredo. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the VP said, “Ang gando noong speech.”

Vice Pres. Robredo stressed that the people waited for Pres. Duterte to make a statement when Philippines got the arbitral ruling. Based on the report, the VP added that the people waited that the President will emphasized that the ruling is an “international law already” and must not be the “subject of compromise”.

Reportedly, the Vice President expressed that countries like Vietnam and Indonesia have good economic relations with China but they don’t allow incursion on their waters. She expects the PH government to keep its commitment on the matter.

Impressed with PRRD speech at the UN by Vice Pres Robledo herself is a gesture remarkable to reach out for reconciliation and we the entire Filipinos are hopeful for both leaders to come in good terms,to forge unity among Filipinos,and eventually strengthen our country hard enough to weaken aggressors.
