Celebrities reaction to Manila Bay White Sand that attracted crowd amid pandemic.
MANILA BAY WHITE SAND – These famous celebrities reacted to crowd that gathered together over the weekend in Manila Bay due to white sand.
The artificial white sand that filled the stretch of Manila Bay‘s shoreline along Roxas Boulevard is finally open and it has welcomed the public on Saturday, September 19. It was led by Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) to also mark the International Coastal Clean-up Day.
To make such project possible, it has costed the government Php 389 million budget for the dolomite extracted and shipped from Cebu province, for labor, and other expenses. This particular project was heavily criticized and was opposed by people coming from environment watchdogs, civil society groups, and online community.
And over the weekend, the Manila Bay white sand temporarily opened to the public. Hundreds of people flock their way to see the controversial white sand personally. But due to heavy crowd, social distancing and among other health protocols were violated to which earned reactions from famous celebrities worried about possible infection of COVID-19 as we are currently fighting against a pandemic.
Ermita police station commander Lt. Col. Ariel Caramoan, on the other hand, was relieved from his post due to failure to enforce physical distancing to visitors of the artificial white sand beach.
Here are some comments from these famous stars:
Karen Davila: The white sand looks nice from this left pic but I hope it lasts, withstands the storms and does not damage the environment in the long run.
Jason Abalos: Wala ng covid guys! Mabuhay!! 🙂
