Teacher Tests Positive for COVID-19 & Rushes to Hospital Using Motorized Bangka
RAPU-RAPU, ALBAY – The teacher who tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 has been brought to the hospital using a “Bangka”.
A school teacher in Rapu-Rapu, Albay has tested positive for the coronavirus disease. The educator has been transported to a hospital in Legazpi City using a motorized Bangka instead of a sea ambulance.
Mayor Ronald Galicia reportedly refused to give a statement regarding the teacher’s transportation to the hospital. Galicia said that the sea ambulance would allegedly consume P10, 000 worth of gasoline.
The Department of Health reportedly provided a motorized Bangka instead of sea ambulance. However, DOH-Bicol is not yet giving any comments or reactions regarding the incident.
Earlier this week, a nurse who tested positive for the coronavirus disease failed to reach the hospital immediately. The health worker reportedly experienced discrimination after boatmen refused to provide transportation fearing that they might contract the virus.
