GMA News TV’s State of The Nation, Tonight With Arnold Clavio Will Go Off Air Permanently
GMA NEWS TV – Jessica Soho’s State of The Nation and ‘Tonight With Arnold Clavio’ of GMA News TV will go off the air permanently.
COVID-19 has shattered the Philippines’ economy. Officials have admitted that the funds of the government are near depletion. The health crisis also had a huge impact on various industries.
The entertainment industry is among the most severely impacted with movies and shows canceled and artists and staff struggling to make ends meet. The house panel denied ABS-CBN’s franchise bid in July.
Other newsgroups in the country also suffered due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Last March 19 and 20, GMA News TV temporarily went off the air. After the government lifted the ECQ in Luzon, it returned on air but with a simulcast tv and radio program.
Based on a report from PEP, the management decided to permanently put Jessica Soho’s nightly newscast ‘State of the Nation’ and Arnold Clavio’s weekly talk show ‘Tonight With Arnold Clavio’ off -air.

According to the report, GMA management decided to put some of its news programs off-air because of the uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Jessica Soho’s news broadcasting show ‘State of the Nation’ premiered on February 28, 2011. The program has won the Outstanding News Program at ENPRESS Golden Screen TV Awards in 2013 and 2014 and Best News Program at PMPC Star Awards for Television in 2014 and 2015.
Jessica was also hailed as the Best Female News Presenter at PMPC Star Awards for Television in 2014 and 2015.
Arnold Clavio’s celebrity-oriented talk show Tonight With Arnold Clavio premiered on GMA News TV o February 28, 2011. His program has won the Best Talk Show from Catholic Mass Media Awards in 2012. The newscaster also won Outstanding Celebrity Talk Program Host at the 8th Empress Golden Screen TV Awards in 2011.
