Bus Ram Multiple Vehicles in Makati Intersection Records Mass Casualty

Mass casualty incidents records one critical condition and 11 others injured after a bus ram multiple vehicles in the intersection in Makati City.

According to the report of Anjo Bagaoisan, one was critical and 11 other motorists were injured after they were plowed by a passenger bus on the Osmeña Highway in Pio Del Pilar, Makati on Friday.

The motorcycles sank and the front bumper of the PBTC Bus Corporation bus Navotas was removed. Makati police chief Col. Oscar Jacildo, said vehicles stopped at the stoplight in the northbound lane at the corner of Arnaiz Avenue when the bus collided with a car in front of it.

The bus goes straight to the motorcycles near the stoplight. The side of the adjacent bus was also hit in the inner lane.

Rescue teams from all over the city responded to the so-called mass casualty incident and took the injured to hospitals in Makati and Taguig. Jacildo said a Philippine Coast Guard personnel who was one of the first motorcycle riders to be hit by the bus was critical.

Police have arrested the bus driver, identified as Marlon Yandug Nacaytuna, 29. According to Lt. Gemma Reyes of the Makati Police vehicular traffic investigation unit, the driver said she allegedly lost her brakes.

He faces charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple injuries and damage to property. Police are still investigating the incident.
