2 Employees of the House of Representatives Test Positive for COVID-19

HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES – The House confirmed two (2) new cases of COVID-19 bringing the total in the chamber to 54.

The COVID-19 pandemic is currently shaking the healthcare system of the Philippines. Amid the fight, several big hospitals reached their full capacity and some hospitals are experiencing insufficient manpower.

Several doctors, nurses, and health workers also became coronavirus patients in their line of duty. As of this writing, the Department of Health (DOH) has logged a total of 197,164 cases of the disease in the country.

Out of the said total, 3,038 patients of coronavirus lost their lives to the battle against the disease. The total recoveries now is at 132,396.

The cases in the Philippines include people from the different sectors and branches of the government. Undeniably, their work may require them exposure to a lot of individuals.

One of the branches that recorded COVID-19 cases is the House of Representatives. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the House recently confirmed two (2) new cases of the disease.

According to House Secretary General Jose Luis Montales, the two (2) new patients of the disease are siblings. They are living in the same house.

Based on the report, the House of Representatives employees who tested positive for COVID-19 work in the Human Resource Management Service and the Engineering Department.

Montales expressed that the Human Resource staff last reported to work on July 29. Her sibling from the Engineering Department has reported last August 14 and August 17. His symptoms started to appear on August 17.

Currently, the contact tracing is done as part of the health protocol. More updates may be posted soon.
