Carmen Town Police Shot Dead While Chasing Suspects

CARMEN TOWN POLICE – The police chief of Carmen town, Cotabato was slain during an encounter after his team pursued armed suspects.

According to a report from GMA News, the aforementioned suspects were earlier involved in a shooting incident involving a foreigner..

According to Cotabato provincial police director Colonel Henry Villar, the fatality was identified as Police Major Joan Resurreccion.

“It was an unfortunate day for us law enforcers,”

“We are still conducting hot pursuit operation.”

Resurreccion was said to have led a hot-pursuit operation against the suspects who shot a foreigner, who is said to be a Pakistani national, in Barangay Poblacion at past 10 AM.

The officers then reached Brgy. Tawantawan where they were fired upon by a a group of armed men, thus, an encounter ensues.

“Upon reaching near the quarry site in Brgy. Tawantawan, Carmen, Cotabato, the pursuing police elements was fired upon by a lawless group wherein PMaj Joan Resurreccion was fatally hit by a bullet,”

Based on the report, the police officers are currently probing the incident.
