PAGASA – LPA To Likely Enhance Into Tropical Depression (August 21)
PAGASA – Weather bureau PAGASA recently said that the LPA that was spotted east of Cagayan is more likely to become a tropical depression.

According to PhilStar, weather specialist Benison Estareja said that there is a high chance that it will turn into a tropical depression within the day or Saturday.
“Nananatili pong mataas ang tsansa na maging isang mahinang bagyo or tropical depression ang nasabing LPA pagsapit po ng either mamaya or bukas at bibigyan ito ng pangalan na ‘Igme’ or ‘yung pang siyam na bagyo ngayong 2020,”
It was last spotted at about 210 kilometers east of municipality of Aparri in Cagayan.
The weather disturbance is expected to gradually continue northwards toward the east of Babuyan Islands on Friday morning until noon, moving further to the east of Batanes, based on the report.
“Inaasahang mananatili po sa loob ng ating area of responsibility itong low pressure area hanggang sa Sunday kung saan posible pa po rin itong mag-enhance ng habagat kahit hindi na ito nakakaapekto ng ating bansa,”
As previously reported, the LPA and habagat will bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley and Central Luzon. Flash floods or landslides may occur due to moderate with occasionally heavy rains.
For the wind speed forecast, extreme northern Luzon will face moderate winds that are moving in the southeast to east direction while facing moderate coastal waters.
Visayas and the rest of Luzon will face moderate winds that are moving southwestward while facing moderate coastal waters.
The rest of the country will face light to moderate that are moving in the south to southwest direction while facing slight to moderate coastal waters.
