Masbate Hit by Earthquake with 4.2 Magnitude
EARTHQUAKE HITS MASBATE – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a 4.2 magnitude quake in Masbate, August 18, 2020.
Following the magnitude 6.5 quake earlier in the day, Masbate was once again hit by another earthquake, this time, with a magnitude of 4.2.
According to Phivolcs, the quake hit Masbate at around 4:04 PM with a depth of 12 kilometers and had its location at 11.89N, 124.09E – 017 km S 37° E of Cataingan (Masbate).
Meanwhile, days before the quake, an oarfish was found by residents in Agusan del Norte which sits at the same active fault line as Masbate. Oarfish are deep-sea fish that live close to active faults.
As such, the fish has developed a greater sensitivity to chemical changes in the water just before an earthquake happens
Meanwhile, The four popular volcanoes in the Philippines such as Mt. Mayon, Taal, Kanlaon, and Bulusan show irregularities on the same day.
