According to Manila Bulletin, this was with the nation’s frontliners who had called for stricter quarantine measures

This is also in order for them to have a rest from the increasing positive cases of COVID-19 in the country.

Based on the report, Senate President Vicente Sotto III said that sessions there would also be suspended during its self-imposed enhanced community quarantine starting August 4 until August 19.

The Senate has long been aiming for a two-week lockdown for the said purpose. The now-approved proposal is also out of the concern of the upper chamber for the doctors, nurses, and hospital staff.

Many senators have also showed their support to the frontliners’ call in this COVID-19 spike.
