Senate Imposes Lockdown On Its Premises For Two Weeks
SENATE IMPOSES LOCKDOWN – The Senate recently implemented its lockdown on its area for two weeks in isolation.
According to Manila Bulletin, this was with the nation’s frontliners who had called for stricter quarantine measures
This is also in order for them to have a rest from the increasing positive cases of COVID-19 in the country.
Based on the report, Senate President Vicente Sotto III said that sessions there would also be suspended during its self-imposed enhanced community quarantine starting August 4 until August 19.
The Senate has long been aiming for a two-week lockdown for the said purpose. The now-approved proposal is also out of the concern of the upper chamber for the doctors, nurses, and hospital staff.
Many senators have also showed their support to the frontliners’ call in this COVID-19 spike.
The frontliners made a call for stricter measures to give the medical industry a 2-week “timeout”. Many health facilities, as wall as major ones in Metro Manila have also announced that they are in full capacity.
There are more than 100,000 cases in the country, as of this writing, among them are more than 2,000 fatalities and more than 65,000 recoveries.
