DOST Led Trials For VCO Shows Promising Results
DOST TRIALS ON VCO – Virgin coconut oil has been the Philippines’ top candidate as a potential treatment for COVID-19.
Currently, the Philippines’ plan to address the coronavirus epidemic is to implement strict lockdowns while waiting for the vaccine. However, a local scientist believes that treatment could be sourced locally.
Dr. Fabian M. Dayrit, president of the Integrated Chemists of the Philippines said VCO could be that cure. According to a report from ANC, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) has been doing trials to see its effectiveness against the virus.

Dayrit explained that VCO has direct antiviral properties. This meant that VCO has the potential to directly kill or destroy the new coronavirus. Furthermore, the substance also enhances the immune system. As per the report, Fabian said that there is enough evidence to suggest that VCO is immunomodulatory.
However, Dayrit noted that these were not clinical studies. Instead, the doctor emphasized that people were invited to be treated for the virus and not to be studied.

In a previous report, we learned that 69 patients were given 1 tablespoon of VCO twice a day. Afterward, the results showed 45 out of the 69 patients tested negative. Meanwhile, the remaining 24 didn’t have worsening symptoms.
