PH to Send Virgin Coconut Oil to Singapore for Study as Cure to the Virus
The Philippines will send samples of virgin coconut oil to Singapore to study its potential as a cure for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
According to the report of GMA News, the possibility of using virgin coconut oil (VCO) to fight the deadly coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is being studied by experts in the Philippines, according to Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles on Monday.
According to Nograles, the National University of Singapore has agreed to study the efficacy of COVID-19 coconut oil.
“As to the efficacy of virgin coconut oil in combating COVID-19, a leading proponent—an academician in one of our top universities—is spearheading this initiative, and the National University of Singapore has accepted to test VCO against COVID-19,” Nograles said at a press briefing in Malacañang.
He said virgin coconut oil samples were being prepared for delivery this week. “We are now preparing sending samples of virgin coconut oil for testing within the week,” he added.
Many scientific studies have confirmed the anti-viral properties of virgin coconut oil and have called for clinical studies to be used on COVID-19 patients. Recently in China, the antiviral drug Favilavir has been approved to be sold on the market last week after it showed efficacy in treating patients with COVID-19.
Meanwhile, more than 78,000 have been affected by COVID-19, while the death toll raises more than 2,500 in China.
