ABS-CBN Network Lost 5,000 Employees, 2nd Retrenchment On December

The second wave of retrenchment of ABS-CBN network will be on December.

ABS-CBN NETWORK – The media company ABS-CBN have lost 5,000 from their over 11,000 thousand employees on first wave of their retrenchment.

The biggest media company in the Philippines, ABS-CBN, have officially shut down after decades of broadcasting. This is after the House committee rejected their franchise renewal application, thus, they have decided to let go of their employees.

In their statement, the retrenchment will start on August and this has broken lots of hearts. According to a report from PEP, they have already laid off 5,000 employees from their over 11,000 people. The second wave of retrenchment is also bound to happen in December.

Meanwhile, despite being shut down, the network offered their transmission network to the government to show educational programs for students amid this pandemic. They have 35 regional television stations, 16 FM stations, and 3 AM stations and Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque thanks them for this and even asked if they could also use their materials.

Despite not having the franchise, the network and their artists are still able to reach their loyal viewers through various digital platforms where they have already collected wide followings and subscriptions.
