Duterte SONA 2020: VP Leni Robredo Invited To Hear President’s 5th SONA But Via Zoom Teleconferencing Only
DUTERTE SONA 2020: Vice President Leni Robredo said she’s invited to hear President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s 5th SONA but via Zoom teleconferencing only.
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte will deliver his 5th State of the Nation Address (SONA) at the Batasang Pambansa on Monday, July 27. He will be physically present at the venue to deliver his speech amid the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The 75-year-old chief executive will report the country’s status and the government’s plans in the coming years to come. PNP chief Archie Gamboa asked protesters to do their SONA protest online.
Based on a report from CNN News, Vice President Leni Robredo will not be physically present at the venue. During her radio interview on Sunday, she revealed that she was invited to hear Duterte’s 5th SONA, but via Zoom only.
“Hindi ako imbitado sa House of Representatives. Na-receive naming na invitation ay Zoom, so iyon ang pupuntahan ko,” Robredo said.
According to the report, Leni Robredo said she cleared her schedule for the president’s SONA. She said she will attend via Zoom teleconferencing because its part of her obligation as a public official.
“Ito naming SONA, talagang kinlear natin iyong schedule para ditto, so dahil hindi naman ako physically na pumunta doon, sa Zoom mag-aattend ako kasi obligasyon natin ito,” she said.
Based on the report, Leni Robredo said she hoped President Duterte will bare his administration’s response to the COVID-19 crisis because his weekly meetings were insufficient.
“Gusto nating malaman sa SONA ano iyong plano. Matagal na nating tinatanong kasi parang hindi kumpleto iyong napapanood natin doon sa weekly meetings. Hopefully tomorrow, kumpletong mailalahad,” Robredo said.
In a previous article, PNP spokesman Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac said they will arrest people who will stage mass protests during SONA 2020. He said they will implement the no permit, no rally policy.
