NBI Sends Subpoena to College Student For Criticizing Senator Bong Go On Social Media

A college student received a subpoena from the National Bureau of Investigation for allegedly criticizing Senator Bong Go.

The lawyer of the college student who posted distasteful remarks against Senator Bong Go went to the NBI’s office. The lawyer refused to grant an interview but some NBI personnel confirmed that Go’s filed a case against the basher.

President Duterte’s former top aide admitted that he file a complaint against his online basher. He also believes in freedom of expression but reiterated that it should be used responsibly to avoid violating human rights.

The 46-year-old politician said that NBI is already investigating the social media posts that may fall under possible violations of the cybercrime law, particularly libel, and other sanctions. He also urged the basher to answer the subpoena.
