GMA-7’s News Program ‘Saksi’ Shows Solidarity W/ ABS-CBN
GMA-7 – On Friday, GMA-7’s ‘Saksi‘ ended its newscast with a different extro. The newscast showed ABS-CBN’s logo and its iconic transmitter tower.
On June 10, the committee of the House of Representatives handed its decision of the fate of the ABS-CBN network. Lots of people are hoping that the government will give the company a new franchise. However, the House panel denied its franchise bid.
Following the decision of the House of Representatives to reject the franchise application of the media network, ABS-CBN executives appeared on GMA-7 news program ’24 Oras.’ Veteran news anchor Mel Tiangco presented the statement from Carlo Katigbak and Mark Lopez.
On Friday, July 10, GMA-7’s late-night newscast “Saksi” ended the program a little bit differently from what their viewers were used to. The newscast did not play its theme music. They wanted their viewers to focus on the screen at the back.
The screen showed the ABS-CBN network’s logo and the transmitter tower along Mother Ignacia in Quezon City. The closing spiel of the anchors Pia Arcangel and Raffy Tima caught the attention of the viewers.
They said, “Para sa malayang Pilipino, kaisa kami ng lahat sa pagiging Saksi.”
A Facebook user named Dawnie Tiu shared the screenshots of “Saksi’s” solemn tribute for the Kapamilya network. Her post has garnered 26 thousand reactions, 1.3 comments, and 14K shares as of this writing.
